Congrats on your overdue Hall of Fame induction, Ronny!
On December 3, 2010 we lost a piece of Chicago Cub Nation -- the heart that always pumped Cubby Blue blood through the team's fandom -- Ron Santo.
He spent 14 years playing third base in the Windy City and another 20 behind the microphone at Wrigley Field, always demonstrating his enthusiasm, loyalty and devotion to the Cubs. He battled diabetes, cancer, critics (and baldness!) with a constant smile and a conviction that was infectious and will be sorely missed.
"Santo" means "Saint" in Spanish/Italian and we have no doubt that Ronny has taken the elevator upward to watch over his beloved team from the heavens.
Ron was the consummate Cub, and became known as "This Old Cub" after his filmmaker son made a documentary about his life with that title
. This tee displays Ron's nickname on the front in a spoof of the "Old Style" logo (the beverage of choice for Wrigley patrons) and on the back shows an angel sporting Ron's retired number emblazoned on pinstriped wings, clicking his heels as Ronny used to do on the field and can do again in the afterlife where his body-and-soul will be whole.
Ron Santo has left us, but heaven and the Hall of Fame await him -- show your affection with this tee, available in sizes medium through 2XL. (For another, more straightforward tribute to Ronny's legacy, see our #10 tee
